Winners will Join the Largest Field in Event History and will Tackle Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Inaugural Two-Day Competition

November 6, 2014 (LAS VEGAS, NV) – OPTIMA® Batteries, the global leader in high-performance automotive and marine batteries and digital battery chargers, has announced the final eight competitors to run the 2014 Ultimate Street Car Invitational event. As in past years, this final group of vehicles was selected right off the SEMA Show floor by a team of OPTIMA representatives and industry experts. Today at the OPTIMA Batteries press conference, in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the final winners were announced as 2014 Ultimate Street Car Invitational participants.

These Golden Ticket winners represent a broad range of cutting-edge styles, designs and performance engineering, including representative vehicles from Asia, Europe and the United States. They include:

  • 2015 Dodge Challenger driven by Dan Long
  • 2013 Subaru BRZ driven by Mike Langford
  • 1953 Ford Ranch Wagon driven by Troy Martin
  • 2014 Cadillac ATS driven by Ryan Graham
  • 2015 Ford Mustang driven by Filip Trojanek
  • 2012 Mercedes Benz SLS driven by William Horan
  • 1986 Buick Grand National driven by Mike Copeland (owned by Butch Cox)
  • 1972 Chevrolet C10R driven by Brandy Phillips

The remaining nominated vehicles will serve as alternates for the existing field of participants.

The Golden Ticket winners will now round out the field of competing in the 2014 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational, held for the first time at the nearby Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Previously a one-day event, the competition will now take place over two days following the close of the SEMA show (November 8-9.) They will face a wide array of competitive driving events including the BF Goodrich Hot Lap Challenge, the Wilwood Speed Stop Challenge, and the Ridetech Street Challenge Autocross. Additionally, they will have to prove their street driving capability on the Detroit Speed Road Rally Challenge, and their overall quality and craftsmanship will be judged during the Lingenfelter Performance and Design Challenge.

Debuting this year is an exciting new format for the Ridetech Street Challenge Autocross portion of the competition. Rather than a single course, symmetrical side-by-side tracks will be laid out to enable vehicles to compete at the same time on identical, but mirror opposite, courses.
