Feature Interview – Aaron Sockwell
2015 Mustang GT
We’ve had a number of listener requests for more in depth car and driver style interviews, so in this show we decided to feature Aaron Sockwell and his Mustang GT. Aaron ran third in the GT class at the recent Texas event in his 2015 Mustang, and his car was specifically ordered to be his competition and development car for DuSold Designs.
Aaron grew up as an athlete, and learned the value of good coaching. He attributes a lot of his driving success to practive and training, both from the Bondurant school as well as from other competitor drivers.
The Mustang was ordered specifically for OSUSC competition and he started with a base GT with the Performance Package (which comes with the limited slip rear end and big brakes, among other things) as well as RECARO seats, then added 315’s at all 4 corners and a rear spoiler built for the 2015 to OSUSC rule specs. He feels that this 2015 chassis is an incredible step up over previous generation Mustangs, and at a test track event was able to keep up – on 200 treadwear tires – with a Boss 302 on racing slicks. The rear spoiler has proven to be VERY capable, to the point where the nose of the car may now need assistance as well. The rear spoiler is also available via DuSold Designs.
You can contact Aaron at DuSold Designs via 972-221-1455 and follow them on Facebook as well. Thanks for the great interview, Aaron!
