SEMA Showcase and Danny Popp’s OUSCI Win!
SEMA and OUSCI 2015 are in the books! In this show we looked back at OPTIMA’s Thursday-of-SEMA press conference as well as the segment-by-segment results of OUSCI. For those of you that love the inside-baseball of how OUSCI works (and how two-tenths of a second can make a huge difference), you’ll love this episode for sure.
SEMA Press Conf Segments:
1. OSUSC Season Award Winners – Trophy Presentation
2. OUSCI Golden Ticket Award Presentation
3. Cam Douglass and Kyle Tucker surprise Pedro Gonzales with a fully equipped (and installed) Detroit Speed Second Gen F-body Suspension system!
OUSCI Segment Recap:
Design and Engineering
1. Matthew Butts – 69 Dodge Charger
2. Brett Behrens – 78 Ford Mustang II
3. Steve Keefer – 67 Camaro
Autocross
1. Dr Brandon Ranvek – Evo
2. Andy Smedegard – Evo
3. Danny Popp – 2002 Corvette
Speed Stop
1. Clay Shearer – Porsche 911
2. Andy Smedegard – Evo
3. Danny Popp – 2002 Corvette
Road Course
1. Danny Popp – 2002 Corvette
2. Hugh Bate – GTR
3. Andy Smedegard – Evo
Ultimate Street Car Champ – Danny Popp
Interesting OUSCI Points of Note:
1. Danny Popp is the first 3-time OUSCI Champion and is the first back-to-back Champion
2. Had Andy Smedegard finished in 2nd place in the Road Course segment he would have been the 2015 OUSCI Champion!
That’s it for this season! We’ll be back during the first week of December to preview the 2016 schedule…and perhaps start digging into the likely 2016 rule changes as well. Happy Thanksgiving and we’ll see you soon!
