Welcome to the Optima Search For the Ultimate Street Car Series Podcast! This show is produced twice-per-month show and will be a great way to keep people informed on everything going on, from rules discussions, to event coverage, and to feature interviews with competitors and people of interest!

A fun photo from the recent “Cars and Cones” Tour: Mark Greenisen’s Gremlin with Jimi’s AMX!
Live from NJM with Jimi!
And now for something a little different: since there are so many events going on at this time of year we decided to bring Jimi on the show – live from New Jersey Motorsports Park! This is the first OSUSC event from NJM, and it has a lot of unique things about it due to the facility itself as well as the state of New Jersey.
As Jimi shared, there are two other race series using the facility this weekend. As a result of this the autocross and speed stop segments will be held on Saturday and Sunday instead of the combined “normal” Saturday schedule that we see at other events. This simply means that OSUSC attendees that purchased the “One Day” event package (which gets the the Autocross and Speed Stop, but does not involve the Road Course segment) will find themselves there for two days regardless. Twice the fun!
Jimi also shared that the “submarine belt through the seat” provision required by the state of New Jersey has caused no issues at all, and reported it will likely be incorporated at some level into the 2017 OSUSC safety rule set.
Lastly – we did chat through the weather conditions expected at NJM this weekend….and it’s definitely (100%) going to rain! While OSUSC events don’t necessarily stop from rain they do halt for dangerous conditions, with the safety of the track workers and drivers being first and foremost. Listen in to learn exactly what that entails.
